KWP’s Bruce Carlson coordinated the retail leasing for three key Escapology Escape Room retail locations throughout Southern California and Northern California as part of the brand’s nationwide expansion. Escapology, a fast-growing escape room franchise, offers dynamic 60-minute immersive adventures, where players must solve challenging puzzles, find hidden clues, crack codes, and escape within the time limit. The locations include rooms at the Northridge Fashion Center located at 9301 Tampa Ave. in Northridge, CA, Stonestown Galleria located at 3251 20th Ave. in San Francisco, and City Center Bishop Ranch located at 6000 Bolinger Canyon Road in San Ramon. Bruce Carlson, Managing Director at KWP Real Estate oversaw the three transactions totaling approximately 15,000 square feet.
“Shopping center retail is evolving,” said Carlson. “Experiential retailers understand the effectiveness of leveraging regional retail trade areas that are dense and have adapted to meet the demands of today’s customer. These new locations allow Escapology to expand their reach, giving them prime visibility and adding to their footprint of 70-plus retail locations nationwide.”
The shopping center experience has transformed recently in key markets, as consumers moved to suburban areas from urban cores during the pandemic. As a result, some retail tenants have adjusted their site selection strategies to reach their target consumers, favoring immersive, one-stop-shop experiences that offer dining, shopping, and related services.
“Identifying the right location has always been the cornerstone for successful retail,” said Burton Heiss, CEO, Escapology. “Our primary goal was finding stores with strong foot traffic and an elevated co-tenancy to introduce more customers to our unique brand of entertainment. The team at KWP Brokerage truly helped us accomplish this mix.”
